Abstract

On June 14, 2014, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church hosted the 12th Pragmatics Roundtable under the title Historical Pragmatics. The aim of the conference was to provide a comprehensive overview of how the methods and findings of pragmatic research can be applied to the analysis of historical texts. This special issue brings together studies based on the presentations delivered at the event.

Nóra Csontos, KRE Department of Hungarian Linguistics

Nóra Csontos is an associate professor at the Department of Hungarian Linguistics at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church. Her main research areas include the study of quotation and historical pragmatic investigations within a cognitive linguistic framework.

Ilona Csilla Dér, KRE Department of Hungarian Linguistics; HUN-REN Research Center for Linguistics

Csilla Ilona Dér is a habilitated associate professor at the Department of Hungarian Linguistics at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church and a senior research fellow at the HUN-REN Research Centre for Linguistics. Her research areas include historical syntax and pragmatics, discourse markers, insubordinated subordinate clauses, and postpositions.

Péter Furkó, KRE Department of English Linguistics

Péter Furkó is the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church, a full professor at the Department of English Linguistics, and a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). His research areas include discourse markers, discourse annotation, and interpersonal pragmatics.
