Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Responsibilities and rights of authors and editors
Authors should guarantee that their work is original, has not been published previously, plagiarism free, and all the sources used in the text are acknowledged in the reference section. Publishing in the journal is free. The authors are not charged any fees for reviewing, editing, and printing their articles. The owner of copyright is the author, the papers already published in Jelentés és Nyelvhasználat are allowed to be published again elsewhere, even in an extended, revised form, or can be published on the author’s web page, or in other repositories. The only condition of a second or subsequent publications is that the author should refer to Jelentés és Nyelvhasználat as the first place of publication. The author is free to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, as long as the author follows the following license terms. The author must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. The author may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses the author or the author’s use. The author may not use the material for commercial purposes. The author may not apply legal terms that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits. The manuscripts submitted to the journal are first reviewed by the editors, who evaluate whether they fit into the profile of the journal. The editors are not allowed to use unpublished information obtained from the manuscripts submitted to the journal without express written consent of the author. The editors send the reviewers’ opinions anonymously back to the corresponding author in each case. Until the editors declare the manuscript acceptable, it remains in the review phase. Beyond the reviewers’ opinions, the editors may ask for further modifications from the author. After technical editing the authors receive the papers for a final overview, and can inform the editors of any further errors. Throughout the review and editing process the editors keep in touch with the authors through email. The names, e-mail addresses and any personal data of the authors submitting manuscripts to the journal are used exclusively for the stated purposes of Jelentés és Nyelvhasználat and are not made available to any other party for any other purposes.
Responsibilities and rights of reviewers
The manuscripts go through a double-blind review process involving two independent reviewers who are internationally recognized experts in the field of semantics or pragmatics. Throughout the review process both the reviewers and author identities are concealed from each other. The reviewers are not allowed to use unpublished information obtained from the manuscripts submitted to the journal without express written consent of the author. Reviewers’ opinions should be formulated objectively, with supporting arguments. Reviewers may not consider manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest resulting from collaborative or other connections with any of the authors. If the reviewers ask for changes, the author has to modify the manuscript in order to be published.
Misconduct Statement
If unethical behaviour may be identified concerning any of the rights or responsibilities of authors and/or editors and/or reviewers, then the authors and/or editors and/or reviewers can take responsive measures which include the informing of the authors and/or editors and/or reviewers where there appears to be a misapplication of responsibilities. In the case of the reviewers’ non-observance the editors may give the manuscript to new reviewers; in the case of the authors’ non-observance the editors may refuse the publication of the manuscript in the journal or retract the publication from the journal; and in the case of the editors’ non-observance the authors may withdraw their submission from the journal or withdraw their publication from the journal.
The journal is not responsible for the potential errors or inaccuracies concerning the content of published papers. If a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered after publishing, it is the author’s obligation to notify the editors and cooperate with them to correct or retract the paper.
